Modello was engaged to design a home set in 1 hectare of mature bush with views over Bream Bay. Using a joint interest with the clients in a style of architecture called “Pattern Language”, using this philosophy in order to, amongst other features, frame views with window and door elements located to capture views of the sea and into the bush rather than opening the whole house to those views.
Minimum vegetation was removed to site the house and in time the bush will again develop to contain the home.
The house steps down the site to match the land contours and comprises two wings with one for living and service areas; the other for sleeping and working. These are linked by an open roofed outdoor living space which the clients will develop as they live in the house.
